Acne, technically denoted with the name Acne vulgaris is one of the prevalent skin diseases mainly effected by the alterations inside the pilosebaceous units, which are the skin structures comprising of hair follicles along with its allied sebaceous gland. Acne lesions are most commonly known in the forms spots, zits and pimples. Acne in its severe form is inflammatory but it can also mark itself in the non-inflammatory forms. Acne is the most common phenomena during adolescence, distressing a large chunk of teenagers around 85 percent of them are found suffering from its most common manifestation known as pimples. Main areas affected The areas in the body being most regularly affected by acne are the face and the upper neck portion, while the back, chest and shoulders might also develop acne.

Hormonal activities such as puberty and menstrual cycles can result in the development of acne. Growth of dead cells in the skin could also result in acne.

Available treatments These days a large number of skin products are present in the market for effective acne treatment. These skin care products have good effects in less time such as: 1. Anti- provocative effects 2. Manipulation of hormones 3. Preventing blockage in the follicles Apart from these, various other treatments in combination of the skin products are available which can considerably reduce the severity as well as the amount of acne in most of the general cases. However, if these treatments are not much effective and if this skin disease becomes severe then one must visit a doctor.
